FINAL PROJECT
Cinemagraph: Surrealistic Parallax
Progress
FIRST DRAFT
As shown in Week 11, I made two artworks based on the references I've found on Pinterest. For the first draft, I wanted to do something edgy that utilizes glitchy effects and surreal text movements. I wanted the artwork to signify my clubbing adventures, where there's lights everywhere, everything's a mess and a blurred vision to what's happening around you. Due to the fact that this is the first draft, I'm not going to go into detail of the process of producing it. Nonetheless, shown below is the first draft of my take on surrealistic parallax.

The comments that I got from Mr. Fauzi on this attempt was that it's too 2D, it doesn't show the idea of surrealism enough, as the brief said it should be based on the absurdity of dreams. After hearing his comments, I agreed and decided to move on to my next idea.
SECOND DRAFT
With reference to the artworks I found on Pinterest, I've decided to add more "surreal" elements to my second draft. With Mr. Fauzi's comments in mind, I've decided to base my second draft on the idea of dreams.
The concept of my second draft is to showcase the phrase "Head in the Clouds". I also wanted to incorporate the work of a famous surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. As a person who admires his work, especially "Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening", I've decided to use the tigers in that artwork in the second draft.
Apart from that, to strengthen the theme of "dreams", I've decided to make use of the falling sensation most of us experienced in dreams, by adding a falling girl in between my head; which also signifies that the falling sensation only exists in our mind, our dreams.
Process
Shown below are the images I've used in the second draft artwork.

The bulk of this artwork relies on masking out objects and experimenting with blending modes. I've included a gif of the process below.
